How to Reduce Holiday Stress
Whilst we might take our time to decide where and when we're going on holiday often that is as much as we plan. Going on holiday can be a remarkably stressful experience, so how can you reduce your holiday stress? .
1.Plan your holiday. Pack early, keep all your passports and travel documents in one place and get a good nights sleep before you travel. Having a "to do" list will help you organize what needs to get done and what needs to be bought, etc. And just think how great you will feel as you check off each item on your holiday list!
2.Try to be open minded. If things don't go quite too plan just think of it as part of your trip. Adapting to the situation is the best solution if you can't change it. Sometimes those things that go wrong can be the stories that are the most fun to tell
3.Forget the laptop or the Blackberry, seriously do you really think the office couldn't cope without you? Try turning them off for a week, it's easy to slip in to a culture of being accessible all the time. Think of those who you're spending your holiday with, wouldn't you rather be spending your hard earned holiday relaxing and having fun with your friends or loved ones?!
4.Reduce your schedule. Leave time to relax, chill out and experience the culture. Meet the locals, sit and watch the world go buy on a pavement cafe and get a feel for the place you're visiting. Don't feel that you have to see everything.
5. Don't sleep in. It's an easy trap to fall in to, you go to bed a little later and before you know it you're getting up and out that much later every day. If you've reduced your schedule you want to make the most of the few things you have planned, even if it's reading a book by the pool! If you want a little extra sleep go to bed an hour earlier or take a leaf out of the French book, enjoy an extended lunch and siesta.
6. Don't forget to relax! Relax and have a good time. Don't let worry and stress creep in to your mind. Just let go and relax. After all you are on holiday!
It might take some time to adjust but if you can really relax on holiday you'll come back renewed and refreshed.
