On the ground floor there is a large entrance hall with the original fireplace, wooden stairway and telephone. The telephone accepts incoming calls and outgoing local calls only. You will need to purchase a phone card for long distance and international calls. The ‘ piece de resistance ‘ is the very large open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area.(approx. 70ft) It is light and sunny, stylishly decorated and furnished with lots of large windows. There are plenty of comfortable sofas plus a TV, DVD, Video and a selection of videos, books, and games for you to use. French windows open out onto a private breakfast patio that catches the morning sun, the ideal spot to sit and have breakfast or morning coffee with unrestricted views of the open countryside. There is also your own large south facing terrace with plenty of patio furniture and a barbecue. The fully equipped kitchen has a breakfast bar, large cooking range, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine and dryer. The dining area has a large Breton style table that will seat twelve people. There are two showers and toilets on the ground floor. Upstairs there is a bathroom with a roll top bath and toilet and an additional separate toilet. The five bedrooms are all carpeted and have washbasins. There are two double bedrooms, two twin rooms and one family room (double and bunk beds). Outside there are two acres of gardens, with a children’s play area and plenty of space for boules and other games. The heated swimming pool (shared) is 10metres x 5 metres with Roman steps, space for sun loungers and secure fencing. There is a large barn for table tennis, boules and other games and a selection of bikes for you to use. There is ample parking next to the property Local Information [Local Icons] You will find plenty to do and se in this part of Southern Brittany, there are miles of beautiful coastline with superb beaches, pretty villages and fascinating medieval towns steeped in history, plus many tourist attractions. The local beauty spot St Nicholas des Eaux is only a few minutes drive, situated on the River Blavet it offers a range of activities including a river cruise, pedaloes, and canoes to hire, fishing, cycling and riverside walks along the scenic towpath. There are a couple of restaurants, bars and an excellent creperie, all overlooking the river. The nearest town is Baud (15 minutes drive ), an attractive bustling market town with a good selection of traditional shops and restaurants, two large supermarkets, a Brittany postcard museum and an indoor swimming pool. The local golf course, Golf de Rimaison near Bieuzy-Les-Eaux, a fifteen minute drive away, is a 9 hole, par 35 course with panoramic views over the River Blavet. There are also a number of excellent 18 hole golf courses within a 40 minute drive. Only a 20 minute drive away is the medieval town of Pontivy with an impressive chateau and half-timbered buildings in the old quarter of the town. There are numerous shops, restaurants and bars. Carnac Carnac on the south coast is famous for its standing stones and dolmens, it is also a lively and popular seaside resort with large sandy beaches. The old town is attractive and also worth a visit. La Trinite- sur- Mer La Trinite-sur-Mer is adjacent to Carnac and has a large marina and some excellent shops and galleries. (40 minutes drive) Quiberon The Quiberon peninsula stretches fourteen kilometres into the sea and boasts 14 sandy beaches and more than 2,500 hours of sunlight a year. The main town of Quiberon is one of Morbihans liveliest and most popular resorts with a large sandy beach, promenade and plenty of beachside bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. From Quiberon there is a ferry to the island of Belle-Ile Brittanys largest island, it is 14km offshore and has attractive beaches, beautiful and varied scenery and plenty of historical sites. There are guided coach tours which is an ideal way for day trippers to explore the island Vannes One place not to be missed is Vannes a superb medieval town and port seeped in history, with narrow cobbled streets, ancient buildings, a cathedral, castle walls and lots of interesting ‘good quality’ shops and restaurants.(40minutes drive) Large markets on Saturday and Wednesday mornings in the centre of the town. Gulf de Morbihan Morbihan means ‘ the little sea’ and owes its name to the little inland sea of the Gulf de Morbihan. There are numerous islands and 513 kilometres of coastline, with many beaches, quiet coves and small unspoilt harbours. A lovely area to explore and escape the crowds. Port Louis Large sandy town beach with easy parking. It’s a port that is rich in history with impressive ramparts, a large museum and traditional town centre full of character. The fortified citadel, dating from 1591, at the harbour entrance was used as a prison, barracks and arsenal and is now a complex of several interesting museums (30 minutes drive) 10 minutes further along the coast is Gavres, miles of unspoilt sandy beaches, no facilities but no crowds either. Ample parking next to the beach. Josselin Josselyn is a charming medieval town with a beautiful14th Century chateaux and gardens with informative guided tours. The attractive town square is full of pavement café’s and restaurants and is the ideal place to sit and soak up the atmosphere. Auray Designated a town of ‘art and history’ Auray is a busy market town and tourist centre with many art and antique shops. Port Goustan is the picturesque harbour that looks like its straight out of a film set. Flower decked timbered houses and Inns surround the quayside, its a great place to sit and enjoy the scenery.(30 minutes drive) There is a large market in the town centre on Monday morning.
