Les Bruyeres

The house is a heavily beamed 19th century 'longere', with the original 'tuffeau' stone fireplace. The property has been sympathetically decorated, in traditional French style. It is very well equipped to make your stay as relaxing & enjoyable as possible, with one double bedroom and two very large family bedrooms.

To keep everyone entertained whatever the weather there is a games room with, snooker table, table tennis and darts for outdoors there are boules and badminton sets.

You can enjoy the every day pleasure of fresh bread as every morning, 'le boulanger' stops outside the house, perfect for buying your fresh baguette for breakfast. The children always enjoy this little treat and you can practice your French.

Les Bruyeres is also a perfect getaway for cosy winter breaks with central heating and log burner.

  What to do and Where

The house is close to the River Cher and within easy reach of the great chateaux of the Loire Valley. Chenonceaux, Cheverny, Chambord, Valencay, Amboise, are all stunning, but the small less well known chateaux dotted around the area are well worth visiting.

On the doorstep of the 'route de vignobles' you can take the opportunity for some wine tasting. Just a walk up the hill are some fine local wine producers amongst scenic vineyards.

If you want to try some fine French cuisine then visit the medieval towns of St. Aignan, Blere and Montrichard with great restaurants and lovely shops in cobbled streets. Plenty of antique/brocante shops if you're looking for a bargain and a little piece of France. There is a local market at Selles-sur-Cher is a must and if you make it to Tours visit the flower market. Vouvray is worth a visit for its superb wine & to see the wine stored in 'real' caves.
Bike & kayak hire at nearby Selles gives you a chance to explore the surrounding area. You will find secluded beaches on the river, teeming with wildlife, an ideal place for a picnic!
