Best Car Games for Travelling through France
Tired of hearing are we nearly there yet? Here are a few games to help pass the time as you travel through France, you don't need anything with you other than a sense of fun and a bit of imagination.
The Vicar's Cat
A Victorian word game, each player in turn has to find an adjective to describe the vicars cat, we used to have loads of fun with this one. You have to start with the letter A e.g. the vicars cat is aloof and going on to Z. You can either ask every player to find an A adjective before going on to B or have the first person doing A the second B and so on.
Keep the Beat
You just need a car stereo and some willing karaoke singers. Put some favourite tunes on in the car, get everyone singing, then turn the music down, 10 seconds later turn the music back on again. Whoever is still in time is the winner.
Sing along
Pick a song everyone knows, or if you have younger children pick some nursery rhymes. It's a simple game where each person must sing one word from the song before the next singer takes over. So simply pick a song, pick an order and belt out a few tunes.
Nosey neighbour
This is a great game for those tedious traffic jams. Everyone chooses a window, take a sneaky peak out of the window at the person in the car nearest to them. Then you make up things about them, give them a name, a voice, pick a job, where they're going etc. Or you can make it a secret spy mission, tell your children that they can't be seen by their chosen target and if they get caught there turn is over.
Car Bingo
This game couldn't be easier; everyone in the car picks a colour and then counts the number of cars of their colour that drive past them. The first person to spot 10 cars of their colour and shouts BINGO is the winner.
What did I bring on my trip?
Start this game by saying, "I'm going on a trip and I'm bringing..." The first player should name an item that starts with the letter "A". After "A", the next player will say the same thing but with the letter "B", and so on.
Counting Cows
One person keeps time, using a watch. Call out a subject: cows, sheep, red cars, white lorries. Each person tries to count as many as they can before time runs out.
Tall Tales
One person starts telling a story. She talks for about a minute and stops when she reaches an exciting moment. Then another person picks up where she left off. The game continues in this manner, with the tale twisting and turning with each new speaker. If a large group is playing, the last person to have a turn finishes the story. With a small number of children, the game is over when one player decides to give the story an ending.
