Fun Things to do at the Beach in France

France has a wealth of fantastic beaches along it's coastline and even if you're inland 'Paris Plage'! Here are some ideas to have some fun on the beach:

1. Picnic
You'll be spoilt for choice for food to take such as lovely cheeses, tasty charcuterie, fresh bread, fresh fruit and salad.

2. Beach games
Frisbee, hula hoop, play catch, jump rope, fly a kite or volleyball. Whether you have kids or not anyone can have fun when you are at the beach using cheap toys that you can pick up at a nearby store. This will bring back some nostalgia about beach holidays as a child.

3. Write messages in the sand
You can write them big or small, say anything that you want and then take a picture that you can keep as a fun memory. You can always make these in to fun postcards.

4. Collect shells or driftwood
Always fun for children and adults alike and helps keep the kids occupied. This can also keep them busy when you get back home, get them to make a collage or a display as a reminder of the holiday.

5. Catch crabs or crustaceans
Rockpooling is another way to keep the kids occupied, remember to take a little net and bucket for them to collect their finds in.

6. Go for a walk
Many beaches have some great walking trails to follow either along the coast or further inland. Or if you want to get a bit of a work out then take a walk along the sand, dry sand will give you a much harder work out than wet sand. Then after a walk enjoy a cool down in the sea.

7. People watch
You don't need a pavement café to enjoy this past time. Take a look around you whilst you enjoy the sunshine and watch the world go by.

8. Build a sandcastle
Whether it's just a bucket of sand tipped upside down or to something more elaborate, sandcastles help you pass the time at the beach while doing something really creative and fun.

9. Surfing or any other type of water sport
Such as kayaking, jet ski racing, waterskiing or kite surfing if you want a change from sunbathing on the beach get out on the water and have a bit of adventure.

10. Take photographs
The beach is a great place for getting good photos and those photos will be a great memory to take back from the trip. Wander along with your digital camera and see what there is to snap away with.

11. Watch the sunset
If you want a bit of romance then head to the beach for sunset, with a picnic and a nice glass of wine.

12. Daydream
You're on holiday, let your mind wander away from the everyday or think about how your life might look in ten or five years time, where you'd like your life to go or how to spend those Euro millions.

13. Read magazines or a good book
A beach holiday is supposed to be completely relaxing. Park yourself under a parasol, catch a few rays, have a cold drink by your side and read some magazines or a great summer read.

14. Relax
You don't have to daydream or take pictures or do anything at all. You can just sit there and relax. You're on holiday after all!
